1. 1Verify Your SIM Status: Ensure your mobile connection is postpaid (Airtel, Jio, or BSNL) before landing. Prepaid connections from other states go offline immediately upon arrival in Jammu & Kashmir.
2. 2Book Gondola Tickets Weeks in Advance: There are no physical ticket counters for Phase 2 Gondola tickets at Gulmarg. You must book them online via the official J&K Cable Car website well before your travel date.
3. 3Negotiate Pony Rates Politely: Pony operators may quote higher rates initially. Check the official rate charts displayed by the tourism department near the taxi stands before agreeing on a price.
4. 4Avoid Pony Touts at Gulmarg: You do not need a pony or a guide to walk from the Gulmarg parking stand to the Gondola station. It is a paved 1-kilometer walk. If you prefer not to walk, local ATVs are available at fixed rates.
5. 5Get an Early Start in Sonamarg: To avoid heavy tourist traffic along the single-lane highway, leave your Srinagar hotel by 8:00 AM on your Sonamarg excursion day.
6. 6BSNL Coverage: BSNL offers the most reliable mobile network coverage in remote and high-altitude areas like Sonamarg and Chandanwari.
7. 7Keep Cash Handy: While UPI and card payments work well in Srinagar, network connectivity can be spotty in high-altitude zones. Carry sufficient cash for local activities, pony rides, and shopping.
8. 8Respect Local Customs: When visiting religious shrines, ensure your shoulders and knees are covered. It is customary to remove your shoes before entering temples, mosques, and houseboats.
9. 9Ask Before Taking Portraits: Kashmiri people are welcoming, but it is polite to ask for permission before taking close-up portraits of local residents, especially in rural villages.
10. 10Plan for Airport Security Checks: The security check at Srinagar Airport includes a vehicle and baggage scan at the outer gate before you reach the terminal. Ensure you leave your hotel early to reach the airport at least 3 hours before your flight.

• Security Traffic Curfews (Yatra Period): If you are traveling between late June and August, be aware that strict security-related traffic curfews are active along the highways due to the Amarnath Yatra. Tourist vehicles are typically not permitted to travel on the Srinagar-Pahalgam or Srinagar-Gulmarg highways after 5:00 PM. Please follow your driver's suggested departure times to avoid delays.
• Gulmarg Traffic Rules: Local authorities occasionally implement a trial odd-even vehicle rotation system during high-density tourist seasons. Your driver will manage these schedules to ensure your sightseeing runs smoothly.
• Pahalgam Sightseeing Rules: To protect local livelihoods, Srinagar-registered cabs are not allowed to drive tourists within the three scenic valleys of Pahalgam. We have pre-arranged and included a local union cab for this sightseeing run in your package.
• Hotel Heating Standards: During winter (November to February), temperatures drop below freezing. Our hotel selections include properties with centralized heating, radiator systems, or electric bed warmers to ensure you stay warm.
• Airport Check-In Times: Srinagar Airport is under security control. The check-in process requires multiple physical bag scans. Ensure you do not carry power banks or loose batteries in your checked luggage, as security will require you to move them to your cabin baggage.
