About Doodhpathri

Doodhpathri is an alpine meadow in the Budgam district, bisected by the fast-flowing Shaliganga River. Unlike the more commercialized Gulmarg or Pahalgam, Doodhpathri remains a pristine, offbeat destination known locally as the "Valley of Milk" due to the foaming, white-water rapids of the Shaliganga. Doodhpathri is a preserved, ecologically sensitive zone with almost no commercial hotel construction — a tranquil day-excursion hub reached within two hours from Srinagar.

Why Visit Doodhpathri

  • Offbeat Travelers: skip the crowded commercial trails for pristine, quiet alpine meadows.
  • Picnic Seekers & Families: vast, flat meadows provide a safe playground for children and rest spots for seniors.
  • Couples: peaceful walks, riverside picnics, and quiet moments in tranquil surroundings.
  • Photography Enthusiasts: white-water rapids, pine forests, and wooden shepherd huts.
