Summer (Late May to August): Temperatures range from 15°C to 30°C in Kashmir, though Jammu and Katra can experience warmer days (up to 35°C). Excellent for families looking to escape the heat of the plains. Peak pilgrimage season for Vaishno Devi. Autumn (September to November): Temperatures range from 5°C to 20°C in Kashmir. The valley turns golden-orange as the majestic Chinar trees shed their leaves. The air is dry and crisp, and the trek in Katra is cool and comfortable. Winter (December to February): Temperatures range from -5°C to 8°C in Kashmir. The landscape is covered in snow, turning Gulmarg into a hub for snow sports and sledge rides. Katra remains open year-round, though the night trek can be cold.

1. 1Verify Your SIM Status: Ensure your mobile connection is postpaid (Airtel, Jio, or BSNL) before landing. Prepaid connections from other states go offline immediately upon arrival in Jammu & Kashmir.
2. 2Book Gondola Tickets as Early as Possible: Book Gondola tickets as early as possible, especially during peak travel seasons, as availability is limited and tickets often sell out quickly.
3. 3Book Helicopter Tickets Early: Vaishno Devi helicopter tickets must be booked online through the official Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) website well in advance. Keep a printout of your ticket handy.
4. 4Register for Yatra Parchi: The Yatra registration card is free but mandatory. Secure it online before arriving to avoid standing in long queues at the Katra counter.

7. 7Keep Cash Handy: While UPI and card payments work well in Srinagar and Katra, network connectivity can be spotty in high-altitude zones. Carry sufficient cash for local activities, pony rides, and shopping.
8. 8Respect Local Customs: When visiting religious shrines in Katra and Kashmir, ensure your shoulders and knees are covered. It is customary to remove your shoes before entering temples, mosques, and houseboats.
9. 9Ask Before Taking Portraits: Kashmiri people are welcoming, but it is polite to ask for permission before taking close-up portraits of local residents, especially in rural villages.

• Vaishno Devi Shrine Regulations: Security is strict along the trek. Mobile phones, cameras, power banks, and any electronic items are prohibited inside the main Bhawan cave. You must deposit them in the free lockers provided at the Bhawan before joining the darshan queue.
• Amarnath Yatra Security Timings (June-August): Strict highway security curfews are active during the summer pilgrimage. Pilgrim and tourist vehicles are typically not permitted to travel on major routes (such as Srinagar to Pahalgam or Jammu to Katra) after 5:00 PM. Please follow your driver's suggested departure times daily to avoid travel delays.
• Gulmarg Odd-Even Traffic Trial: Local municipal authorities occasionally implement an odd-even vehicle rotation system to manage peak traffic on mountain roads during high tourist seasons. Your driver will coordinate your sightseeing to match these rotation rules smoothly.
• Pahalgam Sightseeing Rules: To protect local livelihoods, Srinagar-registered cabs are not allowed to drive tourists within the three scenic valleys of Pahalgam. We have pre-arranged and included a local union cab for this sightseeing run in your package.
• Hotel Heating Standards: During winter (November to February), temperatures drop below freezing. Stays are selected with heating arrangements suitable for the travel season, which are available depending on the selected property.
• Airport Check-In Times: Srinagar Airport is under security control. The check-in process requires multiple physical bag scans. Ensure you do not carry power banks or loose batteries in your checked luggage, as security will require you to move them to your cabin baggage.
