Overview

The Leh–Ladakh Complete Adventure covers everything that makes Ladakh the most epic road-trip destination in India — in 7 days, at a pace that lets you actually acclimatise and enjoy each stop without a headache. Day 1 is mandatory rest in Leh (3,524 m). This is not negotiable — the body needs time to adjust to altitude and skipping it causes mountain sickness that ruins the rest of the trip. From Day 2 onwards you climb to Khardung La (5,359 m), drop into the cold desert of Nubra Valley for a double-humped Bactrian camel safari, drive the wild Shyok River route to Pangong Tso, and spend a full day at the lake — from sunrise to sunset — watching the water shift between 5 shades of blue. [TEAM NOTE: Add what you tell guests on Day 1 — the acclimatisation walk, the Diamox question, which side of Leh to walk up to watch the sunset without overdoing it. That local advisory is what people are really looking for when they book a guided Ladakh trip.]

Khardung La at 5,359 m — among the highest motorable passes in the world, on the road from Leh to NubraNubra Valley cold desert — sand dunes, apricot orchards and Bactrian camel safari at 3,000 mPangong Tso (4,350 m) — the 134 km lake that changes colour 5 times a day and straddles India and ChinaFull sunrise and sunset at Pangong — the 3 Idiots lake location, without the crowds of a day tripDiskit Monastery and the 32 m Maitreya Buddha overlooking the entire Nubra ValleyLeh local tour — Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace (14th century), Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar SahibThree high passes in one trip — Khardung La (5,359 m), Wari La and Chang La (5,360 m)

Itinerary (Day by Day)

Land at Leh Kushok Bakula Airport (3,524 m) and transfer to hotel. Today is rest — completely. No sightseeing, no walking uphill, no alcohol. The body is adjusting to altitude that is higher than Everest Base Camp in Nepal. Drink plenty of water. If you feel a dull headache by afternoon it is normal. Your guide briefs you on the next 6 days and the altitude protocol. Overnight in Leh hotel.
