Overview

The Kashmir Summer Special is the shortest, most focused way to see Kashmir at its most colourful. In four days you cover three destinations that are at their absolute best between May and August: Gulmarg's wildflower meadow (the entire bowl turns yellow and white in July), Thajiwas Glacier in Sonmarg (snow in summer, one of the most photographed spots in India), and Dal Lake in lotus season (the inner bays fill with pink and white flowers that no amount of filtering can do justice to). This tour is built for travellers who cannot take a long holiday but still want a proper private Kashmir trip — not a shared-cab group tour, not a rushed package that treats Kashmir like a checklist. Four days is enough to feel the place. The weather in summer (18–28°C in Srinagar) is also the best argument: Kashmir is one of the only North Indian destinations where summer is the ideal season, not something to endure. [TEAM NOTE: Add a line about the specific month you think is the absolute best for this tour — your opinion as a local, not a generic answer. 'We think the last week of July is peak wildflower season at Gulmarg — the Himalayan blue poppies are in full bloom and the Gondola queue is shorter than in August.' That level of specificity builds trust.]

Kashmir in summer is unlike anywhere in India — meadows full of wildflowers, snow still on peaks, no rainGulmarg wildflower meadow in July–August — the entire bowl turns white and yellow with bloomsThajiwas Glacier in Sonmarg — touch real snow in June and July while the rest of India sweatsDal Lake lotus season (July–August) — the lake surface fills with pink and white lotus flowersQuick 4-day format — designed for travellers with limited leave who do not want to rushEscape the heat — Srinagar stays 18–28°C in summer when Delhi and Mumbai hit 40°C+Private cab, 1 night houseboat — the Kashmir essentials in a compact itinerary

Itinerary (Day by Day)

Arrive at Srinagar Airport or Railway Station and transfer directly to your houseboat on Dal Lake. July and August are lotus season — the inner bays of the lake fill with pink and white lotus flowers, and the shikara ride through them in the evening light is one of the most beautiful things you will see in India. After settling in, take a 45-minute private shikara ride through the lotus gardens, vegetable floats and the narrow channels near the Boulevard. The temperature in Srinagar in July is around 24°C — windows open, no AC needed. Overnight on Dal Lake houseboat.
